The Aethra's Story
Aethra was founded in December 1972 by Giulio Viezzoli, President of Aethra, with the aim of becoming an international market leader in the telecommunications industry. Aethra has been utilizing digital technology since the 1970s, and the company first developed ISDN products, terminations and videoconferencing systems, in the 1980s. Over the past decade, Aethra has focused on the development of a wide range of video communication solutions, satisfying the requirements of many different sectors.
Aethra was one of the first companies in the world to design and create video communication systems. The first systems it designed were a rollabout for large group conferencing and a videophone for individual communication. Both systems were compliant with the international standard H.320, running over dedicated analog networks. When video communication technology entered the business market in the early 1990s, Aethra adapted its rollabout and videophone systems for the emerging ISDN networks. Aethra was also the first company to provide the market with more sophisticated solutions for specific applications, including Telemedicine and Videosurveillance.
The first audio conference system, TAC (Terminal Audio Conference) was also created by Aethra in the early 1990s. The system ran over an analog data network and was extremely successful among businesses, and press and media offices.
In the networking sector, Aethra boasts long and fruitful experience, enriched over time by many working relationships with international telecom carriers, over 40 of which are now Aethra customers. In the network sector, Aethra has the ability to understand the requirements of telecommunications management by providing reliable solutions such as the innovative NT1 Plus, one of the first products marketed internationally which enables users to take advantage of ISDN while using standard analog terminals.
In early 2000, Aethra wanted to give more attention to services and founded Aethra.net, a new company of the Aethra Group, dedicated to multi-audio/videoconferencing and videostreaming services.
Today, with headquarters in Ancona, Italy and offices around the world, Aethra is one of the key players in the global telecommunications market, with presence in 65 countries, distributing its leading-edge products through more than 40 carriers and businesses worldwide.
